Happy Father Day - 2009

Last year father day we were busy shifting house. This year father day Danelle was born! So what abt nxt year? We will be celebrating Danelle 1 year old birthday! So Father day is very eventful for us. :p

Anyway this year father day we had pot luck at my parent's house cos I am due to deliver anytime so we decided to keep it simple unlike usual year where we will go restaurant for dinner. My sis bought the curry chicken golden pillow and my SIL bought pizza for the children. Hubby bought the chilli and pepper crab from the House of Seafood, fried prawn noodle and satay from Geylang. It was a simple celebration and lotsa yummy food but no pics to show here cos too busy eating! There are too much food and we can't finish so everyone ta-bao home some food.

21st Jun 2009 - Arrival of Princess Danelle

After 40 weeks of long waiting, our princess Danelle finally "surrender" herself and born on 21st June 2009 (her EDD)! Well it also happened to be Father Day of 2009! :)

Okie here are my birth story :

20th Jun

3pm to 6pm - Contractions started but I didnt bother to time it cos I'm too busy looking after Adelle

6pm - We went to parents house for father day dinner and I was too busy eating so never bothered to time contractions again. Thank God that we decided to celebrate on saturday and had pot luck @ my parents house instead cos i've been worrying that i may popped anytime over the weekend.

9pm - We reached home and felt contraction happen between 5-10 mins. I got a little worried n told hb and maid to standby

21st Jun

12am - I cannot tahan the pain liao cos I keeping getting lower backache. So i called gynae and he say wait for another 1-2 hrs then go hospital.

12.30am - I called my sis to come over my place to look after Adelle cos she was sleeping since 10pm.

1am - Sis reached and hubby changed diaper for Adelle then that was the begining of trouble! Adelle woke up and was looking for me. She refused to sleep unless i lie down nxt to her and hold her hands to sleep. She was never like that and when i attempt to sneak out, she will wake up n cry. This whole thing lasted till 3am.

3am - I cannot tahan the contractions anymore and Adelle still couldnt sleep and cry whenever i tried to sneak out. So i ended up crying with her cos it so painful until i want to cry too. Hubby came into the room and decided that all of us to go hospital instead since Adelle refuse to sleep.

3.30am - I checked in to delivery ward and took enema to clear bowels while my sis, hubby, niece and maid were outside entertaining Adelle until they knock her out at 5am.

5am - Contractions get closer and the nurse offered me gas. I asked for epi but stupid nurse say wait for gynae.

7.30am - Gynae came, check cervix abt 1.5 cm dilate and break waterbag. Green liquid came out and he told me cannot try natural as too dangerous for baby. I refused and tell him that i want to discuss with hubby. The senior nurse came in and tell me cannot try natural so better go c-sect. Midwife came in also and start telling me abt her personal story of green liquid affecting her baby brain cos she delivered her bb via natural birth. Then i get worried and decided to give in and sign the consent form reluntantly.

8am - Outside Operation theatre and the stupid automatic door got stuck! Wah really suay rite? Waited abt 10mins cos the nurse keep rekeying the password but not successful. *Faint* Then the nurse knock on the door and someone open the door finally

8.15am - They administer epi on me and then keep using the knife to poke at me to ask if i can feel sharp thing poking me. I told them yes so gynae waited for another 5-10 mins b4 the epi gets into me totally n hubby came in eventually.

8.30am - I heard baby cry and they start cleaning her up then passed to us to take our first family pic. The first thing when i saw baby Danelle was "Is that Adelle? OMG they looked so alike!!" Afterwhich hubby went with them to take bb weight n etc while i knock out liao and only awake when i reach my ward at 9+am. Can't recall what happen after hubby left. Guess i am either too tired (lack of sleep) or the epi is soooo strong that it become like GA??

9.20am - The nurses brought Danelle over to start breast feeding. Glad that she can suck well, seemed to b better than Adelle. :)

Well my birth plan of natural delivery for #2 has failed due to the green waterbag but I got no choice cos baby is distress... Haiz... :( Was quite upset abt it but if i have to risk my baby health to exchange for natural birth is never an option for me too so i rather go thr the "pain" of being cut than making my baby suffer in long term rite?

Baby #2 - 14th Check up on 19th June 2009

The whole week i was working from home cos I'm simply too tired to go to work and decided not to scare the girls in offie in case i have sudden labour pain! Ha.. where got so drama rite? :P Anyway, my boss was ok to let me work from home cos all i need is phone and laptop everyday. Best is i dont have to attend the numerous meetings and stay late in office too!! Hehee... ;)

It was quite worrying of what my gynae will tell me during this visit as it is almost my EDD liao & still no signs of popping. Anyway i went for the checkup and Dr Adrian told me that he will let me wait till next monday then decided if i need to pick a date to go c-sect. :(

During the visit, bb#2 estimated weight is 3.513 kg so still slightly smaller than jie jie so means got HOPE! Let see if bb#2 will "surrender" herself in due time. :)

Await for the day

Something that i wrote while i was at home waiting for Danelle to be born.....

As i await in anticipation and anxiety for the day to come

Princess Adelle is 17 months old on 16th June

Another month passed and in few days time, Adelle will be "promoted" to jie jie aka the BIG sister. :)

At 17th months, Adelle know how to call "daddy" but she still doesn't call "mummy" leh. So SAD. :( Why ah?? Other words that she can say are uncle, orange, carry, close and her favourite word of the month is "no no no" when she doesn't want! Also she can count along with us on "1, 2, 3, 4, 5... " and she can say 2 and 3 very clearly! She is still trying to sing along the ABC song with us and only managed to grab a few letters here and there.

Lately we bought her a little Dora handbag and waterbottle. Eversince then, everyday without fail, she will carry the handbag with the bottle inside to everywhere that she goes!

Oh ya, one of her favourite hobby is to take a pen or crayon and start to draw. She started with scribbling and straight lines but now i notice she draw circles! Look how serious she is into drawing.

Baby #2 - 13th Check up on 12th June 2009

I am on leave again! Ha... slowly clear my annual leave mah... :P

Bb#2 still happily staying inside and dont want to come out yet so I bopian have to go for checkup again. I reached there b4 5.30pm but only get to see gynae at 6.45pm. As i was rushing off to buy birthday cake cos it is my aunty birthday so I've forgotton to get the ultrasound scan from gynae. I went back the clinic and was told that bb weight is est 3.2kg @ 38wks and no extra print for me this time. Seemed like bb will put on weight abt 200g per week wor... kind of worrying me if bb still doesn't come out by nxt wk! :(

Pray that bb#2 will be cooperative and come out soon bah!!

Shopping!

Adelle favourite hobbies now is Shopping! Why? Probably inherited genes from mummy. :p

Baby #2 Name - Danelle 梁恩忻 :-)

It's challenging when come to deciding a name for bb#2. ;)

First, we are contemplating whether to use the first character A or D for her english name? Cos Adelle is Ad(A for Airrence and D for Debbie). So for #2, we decided to use Da instead. Hence, mei mei name is Danelle. It is a female variant of Daniel (minus the "i") and meaning of Daniel is "God is my judge". More about Daniel - He is a character in the bible(Old Testament). He was a Hebrew prophet and the Book of Daniel contains prophecies concerning the future. Daniel was among the Jews who were taken captive in Babylon. He was persecuted by the Babylonians for his faith in God and survived a politically motivated death sentence in a lions’ den.

As for chinese name, it was even more challenging cos we want to continue to use 恩 as the first character cos Adelle jie jie is 恩琪. After shortlisting a few choices, we decided mei mei chinese name as 恩忻(xin1) where 恩 = kind & 忻 = delightful, joyful, pleasant.

We pray that mei mei will grow up to be a kind & happy person who faith is in God! Amen!! :)

Baby #2 - 12th Check up on 4th June 2009

I took one day leave to go for the checkup as gynae clinic will be closed over the weekend and at the same time, clear my leftover annual leave from last yr. ;)

Hubby sent me to SK during lunch time and waited for 1 hr b4 i get to see gynae. Well, bb#2 is growing fast over 1 wk and hit the weight of 3.092kg @ 37 wks. Opss.. gynae reminded me to control my diet again else... Anyway gotta see gynae every week for close monitoring...

After checkup, i went to Expo for the motherhood fair. It's the first day of fair and many good stuff r selling at 50% discount. I spent abt 4 hrs there & $200 fly off from my pocket. Bought stuffs for mei mei & jie jie as well. But jie jie got more stuff cos the gerber snack is very cheap so mummy bought 6 cans to stock up!! :P

Baby #2 - 11th Check up on 29th May 2009

We've been going for checkup on saturday but lately i decided to change to friday appointment instead. What the reason u might think? Basically is Adelle. She simply hates stepping into gynae clinic cos she will break into tears and the remainding weekend was gone cos she will demand me to carry and don't want anyone else. :(

So on 29th May after my annual staff function, i left office and head towards Seng Kang. I bumped into my friend Karen and she was there for post-natal checkup. Though i reached the clinic at 7pm, i waited till 8.30pm to see gyane. Dunno why so many pple that day also and my checkup is the usual 5mins type loh.

Anyway, bb#2 is 2.741kg @ 36 wks. Gynae say bb weight is ok and then he took my blood test! Hmm... don't know why then he take my blood test this time cos previously i ask him but he say blood won't changed wor.... Anyway 1 tube of blood was drawn and was also given MT A admission form! Yippee finally he say i can go MT A liao. :D

Photogenic Baby Photo Contest (II)

Remember my posting in Apr that Adelle is one of the 100 babies for Photogenic Baby Photo Contest?

Well the results is finally out and Adelle is one of the Top 12 Most Photogenic babies! Yippee!! Prior to the results, I told hubby that I think Adelle stand a high chance to be one of the Top 12 but it will be very tough to be the Winner cos some of the babies are really cute wor. ;)

Anyway, it's a good and proud achievement for me cos Adelle won from judges votes and not those contest where u pull frens to vote for u. So it means Adelle is really photogenic leh!! Hehee... :D

As for the prize, it is a 20% gift voucher from Kelly photography. Hmm... let's see if i want to spend $ to let Adelle take pics with mei mei at the same time... save some $ also! wahahahaa.... ;)

Annual Staff Function (ASF)

This year my company got no budget for ASF so our dept had a cheapo function @ the recreation club inside basement 2 of our office building during office hrs ie 2 to 5.30pm. Last year, it was extravagant cos it was held @ Swissotel hotel and it was 10 course chinese dinner with lotsa attractive lucky draw prizes.

So what do we have for this year?

• Door gift was a plastic stationary holder and a 2Gb thumbdrive as souvenir.
• Afternoon tea buffet catered from Siam Kitchen.
• Inhouse Entertainment by our VP and Directors. VP sang a duet song with one of staffs who while Directors performed a skit which i don't find funny. They also sing karaoke to "entertain" us but you can imagine they are singing the 70's-80's songs.
• Lucky draw prizes - 8 sets of ipods sponsored by our directors.
  

Well, i am not the lucky winner for this year but it's ok cos i have iphone so give me ipod also no use. :P
