Photogenic Baby Photo Contest

I haven't been actively submitting Adelle picture for any contest eversince the last mumcentre contest (See http://debbieandairrence.blogspot.com/2008/07/mum-centre-pic-of-week.html)

Lately saw this online magazine and there is a photo contest. So i have decided to submit this time cos the results will be determined by the judges and not by polling via online. I dislike contest that need to pull crowd to contribute to the votes. Machiam like singapore idol to vote for u! So mah fan leh...

Anyway, here's the link to the pictues of April contest - http://motherhoodmonthly.com/photogenic-babies/

Adelle is in the first pic cos the baby pics are arranged in alphabetical order. Will update again if Adelle get into the Top 12 babies! :D

Max birthday party - 19th Apr

This is the first time that Adelle is attending a MacDonald birthday party but she woke up late. So by the time we reached MacDonald Kings Albert park, the party is over loh... :(

Anyway, my nephews Mark and Max(birthday boy) took pictures with Adelle but trust me, it is not easy to take these shots cos either Max or Adelle is constantly moving here & there. The birthday deco at Kings Albert park looks nice and my sis-in-law told that it is a birthday that u just need to pay $ and everything will be done by Mac staff. Sounds good and will consider that option when Adelle starts schooling and have her own friends to invite for her birthday party in the future. :)

After we left MacDonald, we went to Sheng Siong to stock up milk powder and caught Adelle standing happily on the trolley.. :p

Trip to library

It was a hot sunny saturday afternoon. So I suggested to hubby to get out of the house earlier and hide in some aircon places.. hehe. :P Since we will be heading to church for 4pm service, we decided to go to Queenstown library first!

Hubby dropped us off at the library while he went to park the car. I brought Adelle and San to the children section and tried to find baby books. After walking around for 10mins, i managed to find 2-3 rows of baby books. I took out 2 baby books and found a corner to sit down with both of them. Adelle happily opened the book and was very entertained with the pictures inside the book. Thank God she didn't make any noise and guai guai sit and laugh at the pictures.

Shortly after, hubby came and told him to read the books to Adelle while I checked if library still have the goodie bag for preggys. Heard from my june forum mummies that library is giving out goodie bag again this yr. Previous yr ie 2007, i didn't managed to get any cos National library at Bras Basah say they don't have wor though my jan forum mummies got it from other library leh. Anyway, the goodie bag is quite good. It has a baby journal and also a CD of songs, ryhmes and stories. Adelle share the CD with mei mei. :P

Once Adelle finished browsing all the books, she gets bored and wanted to walk around the library. So we decided to go to Galilee cafe inside the library for a cup of drink and cake/snack. We bought the chocolate muffin and it was very YUMMY! Cost $2.60 per muffin but it was quite big. Even Adelle loves it too! :P~~ She attempted to use the fork to eat also!

Princess is 15 months old on 16th Apr + Trip to Bird Park

It's been a long time since we have family outing with Adelle. :) And we decided to bring her to go bird park ths time! Why bird park and not zoo?? Well, my company have both Bird Park passes and Zoo passes for staffs but Zoo pass need to ballot in advance as they are HOT in demand while Bird Park passes are always available for grab esp last min. ;)

We went on a weekday and it falls on Adelle 15th mth old. After our lunch @ home, we went to pick up my aunty at 12+pm since my pass allows 4 adults to enter FOC. I have planned out the itinery @ Bird Park cos there are shows at selected hours and the first one that we go is the Parrots show at 1pm. We reached there slightly passed 1pm and still managed to catch the parrots performing.

After parrots show, we walked around the park to see birds. Yes, all kinds of birds, ducks, flamingo and Penguins! Adelle favourite is the penguin feeding show cos she can stand "really close" to the Penguins seeing them swim here and there. She doesn't really like to see the birds cos it seemed to be the same for her bah?

For us, it's quite interesting to see a condor that is as big as us humans and we do enjoy the shows. I saw from the map that there is a wet and dry playground and brought Adelle there but it was lousy! Nothing much and boring stuff @ the playground. So we hang around for a while and left b4 5pm.

The minute our car starts to move, Adelle automatically doze off into her la-la-land. Guess she is really tired cos she woke up at 9+ am and tahan until 4+pm to take her routine nap.... :P

So what are Adelle achievement @ 15th mth:
1. She can stack up blocks
2. She can draw and color using crayons
3. She loves to snatch the spoon to do self feeding
4. She starts to walk on her own occassionally
5. She know how to throw tantrums now!!!

Adelle starts to walk

Adelle finally dare to walk >10 steps on her own! :)

Here's the clip that we captured @ church. Probably it is very spacious there thus it gives her the confidence and courage to walk longer distance.

Baby #2 - 8th Check up on 11 Apr 2009

Another quick check up for this visit cos Adelle as usual will start her screaming and crying whenever she step into the gynae room. We are glad to know that baby# 2 weight is average - 1.536kg @ 30wks. So far i have put on 12kg and I need to control my weight gain. :( Even though i only restrict myself to 3 meals a day with no snacks, i still put on weight leh.... sianz.... still got 2+ mths to go and hope i can keep it within 15kg max.

As now is 3rd trimester, i tends to get tired and more sleepy also. Thank God that eversince Adelle co-sleep with us since Mar, i get to sleep throughout the nite but occasionally Adelle will still wake up and make noise. Also with the maid around, i can take afternoon nap with Adelle on weekends now! No need to be busy doing housework on weekends for hubby and me. Of cos that means we need to pay more $ and more expenses loh. There is nothing free in this world... :(

Recently, we found out was Airrence's sister-in-law is expecting a girl and EDD in early june, 2 wks earlier than mine. Initially we are told during cny that hers will be a boy but now they told us that her gynae say it's a girl actually. Well, good for them cos they had a boy last yr and now a girl! Coincidentally, both our children are the same age. When my mum heard abt the gender changed for airrence SIL's #2, she started to tell me that maybe my #2 will turn up to be a boy instead?!?! Hmm.... i can only tell my mum that scientifical is only 0.05% possible loh.... :P

Car shopping

The first day that our new maid on board, we started to look out for a new car. Yes, we need to upgrade our mini FIT to a slightly bigger one cos we gotta to put 2 baby car seat + 1 maid so need a bigger car. The previous shortlisted choice was Honda Stream or Toyota Wish. However, the price went up eversince the COE went up! Hence we KIV the ideas and hubby suggest to get a 1.5 Honda FREED - big brother of FIT. Was browsing the internet and saw there is a FREED club! :)

So last weekend, we went car shopping at Ubi carmart and Turf City but we didn't buy anything cos we want to do some survey b4 making any decision. However, we have decided that we will go for a Freed which the lowest quote we got is $60k for 8 seater and will monitor if we want to buy this mth or in Nov cos by then our FIT is 3 yrs old liao.

Last week i was rather free at work so i browse at sgcarmart and newspaper to check out the Freed prices. I called a few PI and only Hua Yang price is the lowest with COE included. So on friday, i saw the prices has dropped by $1k for Hua Yang and immediately i called to enquire. I also told hubby abt it and we are glad that we didn't buy the previous weekend.

On sunday evening, the Hua Yang sales guy called me and told me that today(5th Apr) is the last day of promo. So i asked hubby if he is keen to go and check out the price. So after much hesitation, we went! We have placed a deposit for the 7 seater and managed to sell our FIT to them at a slightly higher price than other dealers quoted and get them to include a DVD player, reverse sensor and reverse camera for the advertise selling price.

A few days later, the COE results came out and COE went up to $7090. We are told that we can collect our car in 2 wks time provided we pay the $$ lah... :P

Okie, we are changing from being a FITter to a FREEDer. :)

A little bit more confident now

For the past 1 mth, Adelle loves walking BUT she will only walk when we hold her hand. And only want one hand to be held by us and not both hands. Nevertheless, she is walking more steadily but just simply lack of courage to walk on her own. When we release her hand and she will just stand still, crying for help.

Since the past 1 wk, we decided to train her walking small steps towards us to build up her confidence. Finally yesterday, Adelle managed to walk about 5-6 steps on her own towards either me or hubby. We will sit opposite each other and tempting Adelle with gerber biscuits. Then Adelle will walk towards me or hubby on her own to get her reward. Greedy pig!! :P She also loves to clap whenever she completed her walk towards me so i will clap with her to encourage her! :D

Anyway we are glad that she is mustering little steps of faith to walk on her own and hopefully soon she will start walking on her own liao! Counting down to the day....
