Adelle has moved out

One of my new year resolutions has come true! That is to move Adelle out of my room!!! Hohoho... :P

This is how i achieve my goal.

1st Attempt (10th Jan) - I put Adelle mattress, booster, pillow, etc in Danelle room, next to Danelle mattress. Then i tell Adelle to sleep with Mei Mei tonite and she say NO! Then she took the booster and put back into my room. Next, she took her pillow and put back into my room. After she put back all the barang barang, she attempt to drag her mattress back into my room also. But the mattress got stuck in the toilet and she got my maid to help her instead. So my 1st attempt failed. :(

2nd Attempt (12th Jan) - I went into Danelle room and Adelle followed behind me. Then i told her tonite she will sleep with mei mei and she said "YES!" Wow... i was surprised! :) Then i quickly went into my room and brought her mattress over. She also happily went into my room and brought all her barang barang and my softtoys over too. So she slept there that nite! In the middle of the nite, she woke up and came into my room to look for me. Then i tot she wanted to come back to sleep with me so i told her to bring over the booster but she rejected and pull me out of my bed, drag me into Danelle room to pat her to sleep instead.... hehee...

3rd Attempt (13th Jan) - I placed her mattress and barang barang into Danelle room. She didn't protest and she slept after i've read them bedtime story. That nite, she slept through and woke up the next day morning.

4th Attempt (14th Jan) - As usual, i put her mattress next to Danelle mattress. Before she doze off, she told me that the bed is for aunty to sleep and mummy sleep in the other bedroom. Yeah clever gal... She know i don't sleep with her in the same room liao!!! :P

From then onwards, Adelle has been sleeping next to Danelle even for her afternoon naps too. Good job Adelle! Mummy is proud of your little step of independence. :) Even daddy was surprised when i told him this news and he say he will buy you and mei mei nice beds to sleep! Haaa....

Innokidz Contest

I have been participating in the contests by Today's Motherhood and Innokidz since last year. FINALLY.... I won a hamper worth $45 this time! Yippeee!!! :) lalalalalaalaa... So happy today!! This is a hamper consist of Babar and Badou DVDs. It came in timely and it is a surprise birthday gift for Adelle. I also just sent in a Vitagen contest form last week and hopefully can win the thomas playset for Adelle too! Hehehe... :P

We didn't have birthday party for Adelle this year so she didn't receive many presents except from our very close friends but God sent her surprise present! Thank U God! :)

Restaurant with NO-Child Policy

Read this article that restaurants in SG banned children. How sad. Anyway it doesn't kill me cos i don't go to these restaurants. ;) Come to think of it, there ain't much family/children friendly restaurants in SG too.

Adelle go to new school

13th Nov - School Orientation
I brought Adelle to attend the school orientation while hubby brought Danelle to a trial class @ JWT Gym UE SQ. We were late and missed the introduction and briefing given by the principal. So we didn't get to know any new friends of Adelle and left after buying the uniforms and PE attire. Adelle refused to try out the uniform sizes so i can only do rough estimate and bought 2 different sizes to cater for her future "growth". I also bought 1 set of PE attire as the kids will be wearing it on every friday for the kids-aerobics day.

4th Jan - First day of school
I took whole day leave and brought Adelle to school. Initially she doesn't want to wear the uniform but after i told her that i will give her gummy bear, she wore it! :) She looks so cute in the blue uniform and my mum was telling me that how time flies and Adelle is going to school now! My dad drove us to the school and i accompanied Adelle since it was a 1 hr session from 11.3am till 12.30pm.

Most of the parents and grand-parents were there and all behaved like paparazzi snapping pictures at the kiddos. While waiting to go into the assembly area, Adelle asked me where is Jayden and Julian. She missed her old friends in the CC so i told her that they did not come to the new school.

As usual, some of the kids were crying and there is a gal whom we met during the orientation cried for 1 hr! I was glad that Adelle didn't cry at all cos she knew i was with her and she likes the new school.
After we assembled at the common area, the kids hold the rings and went up to their class room. The teachers showed us the class room and distributed the children name tags. After that, we proceed to the toilet area where the kids go toileting and wash their hands. Surprisingly, more than half of the class were still on diaper.

Then we proceed to take lift to the assembly cum dining area. Menu of the day was silver fish porridge and it smells good! Adelle ate 2 bowls and one granny was impressed with Adelle good appetite and self feed skill. She was commenting that her grandson can't talk and can't self feed yet. The teachers assured her that the kids will gradually be to do after attending school. I am glad that Adelle had an early headstart than the rest and she is the most "developed" kid in the class cos she is the oldest!!! hahahaa... :P

After snack, the kids assembled again and went back to classroom to collect their bags and collect the communication book. Then it's dismissal time and we walked back to my parents house. It was a 15mins walk and Adelle didn't ask me to carry her at all. Good gal! :)
5th Jan - Second day of school
Adelle did not protest when we asked her to wear uniform today. She was happy and i went to school with her since it is a 1 hr session again.

While waiting for the rest to come to school, there is little einstein show being telecast in the assembly area. After all the kids reached school, they hold the rings and went up to classroom. This time round, the children didn't cry already and most of them seemed to be settling well in the new environment except 2 kids.

Teachers played some music and get them to sing-along while parents stay outside the classroom. The kids were also given shaker to sing along. Since the kids are behaving well, the principal told us to wait at the dining area instead. I didn't get to tell Adelle that i am going down to wait for her and she cried when she couldn't see me outside the classroom. When she saw me at the dining area, she was so happy. :)

From my observation, Adelle can listen to teachers instruction and adapt to the new routine and environment very fast but she doesn't want to make any friends yet. Cos most of the kids doesn't talk and probably new faces to her too. Her CC teachers used to tell me that Adelle takes some time to get comfortable to new faces and after a while, then she will talk to them.

6th Jan - Third day of school
My dad and maid send Adelle to school. She was a little sad when my maid say "goodbye" to her. :( It was a 2hrs session. When i was back home in the evening, i asked Adelle why she cried in school and she said she's scared. At night, she told me that they had sand and water play in school and she want to go to school tomorrow. I also jokingly asked her if she want to go back to the old school and she say she doesn't want! :)

7th Jan - Fourth day of school
It's Kids aerobics day. Adelle was wearing the PE attire for the first time. She looked sporty in it. I was glad to know that she didn't cry at all when maid send her to school today! Seemed like she is really settling well in the new school! :)

Saw a note from school that they will be learning "All abt myself" for this term and i was surprised to see that the K2 will be learning addition and subraction in term 1. Did i learn those in K2 last time?? :P

Adelle can spell and write her name

While hubby was away for biz trip in Dec, i started to teach Adelle to spell her name - ADELLE. After repeating it for 1 week with her, Adelle can store into her little memory and when i asked her how to spell Adelle, she can recite it out without hestitation. Good Job Baby!

Other than spell her name, i also started to get Adelle to write alphabets daily. Initially Adelle will scribble all over the card but after writing for 5 times, she has shown improvement in her writing.

Then the next step was i attempt to teach her to write her name last week. Surprisingly, she is able to write A-D-E-L-L-E on her own. Look at those "ghostly" wavey letters. It was written by her. Though it doesn't look like very neat and proper but i believe she will improve over time. Keep up the good work Adelle! :)

Last night i test her again. So i gave her a piece of blank paper and asked her to write her name. She was able to spell and write A-D-E-L-L-E on the paper without any help. I am glad that she can now associate with alphabets and write her name. Mummy is proud of your little achievement at the age 3.

I drove yesterday!

Yesterday my dad gotta rush off to the temple so i decided to head home to pick up the car and drive my aunty and the kids back home. The journey to and fro was quite smooth except that i spent a bit more time to park the car. Haiz... seemed like my parking skills is still bad or is it becos the car is too big and hard to estimate?!?! cos i learnt using a vios and this is a wish.... :(

Anyway, my maid was very happy that i drove and asked me to drive to my parents place daily and also to shopping malls on weekend as well. It was good to hear this as it means my driving skills was ok! Hope my parking skills will get better as i drive more often. :)

My Wish - 27th Dec 2010

2010 is coming to an end and we got a WISH to welcome 2011! :)

Today(28th Dec) is the day that we say goodbye to Freed. Honestly we do miss our Baby Freed. We bought it becos of Danelle and even my maid misses Freed too! She says Freed is a very cute car! We sold our beloved car becos now is the best time to sell Freed since we can get an offered price much higher than the price that we have paid for Freed. This is the first time in our life that selling a car can fetch $ back instead of lossing out on the depreciation value. So we just gotta say goodbye and go for a second hand car - WISH which is within our budget. Anyway, now is not the right time to buy brand new car since the COE has increased tremedously. I am glad that we made the right decision previously to buy the Freed though it was haste decision. :)

Initially hubby wanted to go for Honda Stream but i doesn't like cos i find it a bit cramp. Then we decided to go for a Wish instead as it is more spacious, cheaper and it is known to be a better petrol consumption car despite of the big size. So we went for "car shopping" on xmas eve @ Turf city and managed to grab one unit that is within our budget and condition looks ok. Even the car dealer was surprised that we sold our Freed at a good price cos we directly advertised our car on sgcarmart and got several calls from potential buyer and dealers as well. Actaully we sold off our Freed at a cheap price cos after i signed the agreement with my Freed buyer, another buyer willing to offer me another $1.5k more but no choice, i have already took the deposit. So sad... else i got more $ in my bank now.. :(

Yesterday, hubby and i went down to collect our WISH. Then hubby drove the Freed back while i drive the WISH. Kinda fun... hehehee... Prior to this, i went for refresher auto-car course as i haven't been driving since Adelle was born so I pay $ to learn to drive again... Thank God the car was quite nice to drive despite of the big size so i reach home without much stress... :) Gotta drive more often with the wish now since hubby will not be in singapore again from next week onwards as he will be away for a whole month....

End of Mama milk

Dearest Danelle

Today is the day that you are finally on full formula milk! After a good 17+months of breastmilk supply, you have grown strong and tall although you are't fat and chubby at all. Hmm... probably Mummy has absorbed all the fats instead of you bah?... :(

Looking back, you are really much more fortunate than jie jie cos she only get 4 months of breastmilk while you get 4 times of the supply! Even one of the daddies in mummy office envy you and always tell mummy that i have helped your daddy save lotsa $ whenever he saw me coming out from the server room with 2 bottles of milk! Also i must give gratitude to the ameda pump that serve me for 1 good year before it broke down and thereafter it was took over by the manual avent pump that mummy got it from a forum fren. Without these equipments, i doubt i can last till today. What i enjoy most during this period was the bonding time with you. Every night, i will latch you and see you fall asleep after a full feed. Then the next thing in the morning, you will look for me and get your first feed of the day. These were the sweet moments that I enjoy having with you cos jie jie never get to do so as she can't latch. :P

Anyway, Mummy has done my best to provide you milk as it was a challenging 17+mths when there are times that i wanted to stop but perserve on becos you doesn't drink from bottle.. But thank god that finally you are willing to be spoon-feed and take milk via the mag mag cup when you go travelling with mummy and daddy! :)

Mummy pray that you will continue to grow strong, healthy and cute always! :)

With Lotsa Love & Hugs from your dearest Mummy :)

Lift ride

Last sunday(5th Dec) was a memorable day for me cos it was the day that Adelle and Danelle went on a lift ride on their own without us!!!

The incident goes like this. Adelle and Danelle took an early nap on sunday cos they knew we are going to the Hi5 show at 4pm. So at 3pm, we were suppose to leave the house and head for the Hi5 shows @ Marina SQ. I was locking the door while the maid was opening up the stroller and Danelle was around the stroller area. But after i lock the door, i didn't see Danelle anymore. So i called "Mei Mei?" but no response. Then i called "Adelle?" but also no response and the next i knew, they must have took the lift on their own!!! :(

I told my maid to stay at our floor level while i go down to level 1 to look for them. When i reached ground floor, i didn't see both of them so i went to the playground to look for them but also didn't see them there. Then i asked those uncles sitting at the void deck if they have seen 2 small kids but nope too.... I was frantically trying to think where they could have landed themselves on which floor. So i decided to climb up each floor to try my luck. When i reached level 4, i run out of breadth and decided to take lift. I noticed that one of the lift stop at level 13 so i head to level 13 but no luck! Then I continue to go up to my floor to try and bingo, the gals are with the maid! :)

My maid told me that after i went down, she pressed the lift and the lift came up from level 13. When the lift door open, Adelle was holding Danelle hand and Danelle ran out of the lift when she saw the maid. I was told that the gals didn't cry and when i saw them, i felt so relieved and proud of Adelle who took care of her mei mei in the lift. :) But of cos, i scolded Adelle for not waiting for us and left on her own. Have reminded her that she cannot take lift on her own next time and she nodded her head.

The next day, i told my colleagues about this incident and they told me that the lift will usually hang around on level 13 if no one is taking the lift and of cos that only applies for flats that are 25 storey high. Hmm... i went back home and tried. It really went to level 13. Now i know the trick! :)

New school for Adelle

Adelle is turning 3 years old next year (2011) and I have been thinking whether to put her in a normal kindergarten or continue in the childcare centre. After much consideration, we've decided to go with the normal kindergarten. Simple reasons as follows :

1. Cut cost! The CC fees is $600 monthly while the kindergarten that i have enquired cost me $200 only. I can use the remainding amt to put Adelle for other enrichment classes while Danelle can also use the $ to go for her playgroup class when she turn 20mths old.

2. High turnover of teachers in Adelle class! I told Adelle chinese teacher about my intention of withdrawing and she was very sad. She keep telling me that Adelle is an intelligent child and 3 hrs of school is not enough for her?!?!? Erm... sounds funny rite? Anyway i told her my main issue is becos within 1 yr, they have changed 3 english teachers already. I don't like a school where the teachers keep changing and the child has to re-adapt all over again. Thank God Adelle is not sticky to any teacher but i felt the bonding between the teacher and child that has to start all over again whenever a new teacher comes in.

3. The new english teacher! Honestly, i find her young and inexperience. Yesterday I was on afternoon leave and went to pick up Adelle. Saw the teacher just sat at the small chair "stoning away" while the children just entertain themselves by run around inside the room. This is the first time that i saw a teacher sitting there, doing nothing where other teachers will open laptop to show the kiddos some barney show or do some stuff with the kids after 5pm.

4. Cirriculum. The kindergarten that i have chosen provide a comprehensive learning experience for the children. There is gym, music lesson(they will get to learn music notes and instrument), outdoor waterplay, sandplay, outdoor painting, computer class, mini garden where they get to do planting, indoor playarea (tricycle, etc), outdoor playground and a mini library to get the kids to bring a book back home each week to read which i like! :)

For the past 1 week, i have been "pyscho-ing" Adelle abt "new school". Every day, i will tell her that mummy will bring her go new school , ask her if she want to go new school, new friends and no more friends bullying Adelle, etc. But she will tell me that she doesn't want new school, new frens. Haiz... :( So i was wondering when then she will agree to it?!?! Thank God, few days later(this week), she finally agreed to the new school suggestion! Without any delay, we brought her to the Foochow methodist church kindergarten today to take a look. It was quite near to my parents place and it is a kindergarten within a church premise. Adelle seemed to like the place and we signed up immediately as they only left 2 vancancy for the 11.30am-2.30pm session. The morning session 8.15am was fully taken up and there are students on waitlist. I didn't know it was so "hot"....

Anyway, tomorrow will be the school orientation so Adelle will be going to see her new friends! :) Pray that this will be a school where she will learn and grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially.
