Fifth checkup - 10th Aug 2007

This visit was super packed @ clinic coz many mtbs took leave as the day before(9th Aug) is National day. We decided to save up our annual leave so only reached the clinic at 6.30pm & waited for 1 hr b4 seeing gynae at 7.45pm. We are looking forward to see how much bb has grown and gynae did a u/s scan. We can see that bb has indeed grown big liao... now 17 weeks old but hor, still cannot see whether bb is boy or girl leh... coz gynae say the legs are closed so can't tell. So we concluded that bb is shy shy loh like daddy..... hahahaa.... :-p

Fourth checkup - 21 Jul 2007

To our surprise, our fourth visit was relatively fast as we reaches at 1.30pm & left the clinic at 2pm including 15mins of wandering around in Compasspoint point. BB is now 14 wk old, measuring 7.3cm and can see him/her more clearly already. Do you think bb look like Debbie or Airrence? You can see the head is at right side of pic. We also tried to ask gynae what is the gender of bb but couldn't tell coz still can't see much details for that. So we have to wait patiently for our next appt on 10th Aug then we can start to think so nice names... hehehee.... :-)

07/07/07 - NT scan

During Debbie last visit, Dr told Debbie that there is a test for down sydrome call NT (Nuchal Translucency) test($95+GST). This test need is to give the parents an estimation of whether bb belong to high risk or low risk group of having DS. You need to take the test within 11-14 wks of pregnancy. Since last week(29th june) is 11wks so Dr has given Debbie a deadline to go for the test b4 10th July. As usual, we usually will schedule any bb related appt on sat so we went on 7th July '07 - 777. What a day right? Anyway, because we couldn't make any pre-appointments so we ended up as walk-in & reach TMC @9am. The stupid TMC made us waited for 1 hr but still didnt get to go in for the scan thus Debbie got irritated & complaint to the person-in-charge why we have to wait so long & their replied is they have to let the appointment patient to go first. In the end, they told us to come back at 11am. It was drizzling @ TMC and we went for our breakfast at a nearby coffee shop & had several nice curry puffs!! Yummy... better than Old Chang Kee! :-)

We returned to the clinic at 11.30am but still have to wait till 12pm then we get to go into the room. The sonographer was young & friendly. She showed us a detailed look of bb & guess what, our cute little bb was busy swimming inside Debbie and showing us a high 5, waving at us & sucking thumb. ;) Funny rite!! It was really interesting to see bb enjoying & having fun inside the womb. We also saw bb nose, 2 hands & 5 fingers on each & of coz the cute legs. As bb was busy having fun inside, sonographer had a tough time to take the measurement so she started to tell bb to stop moving. Mama Debbie also tell our bb to b good & listen & to our surprise, bb stop & remain in a perfect position. After much attempts, the sonographer finally get to take 5 measurements and get her senior to check the results.

When the senior came in, bb was again moving all over and the lady has to "threaten" bb again & this time is "bb, if u dont behave, u will not go home today huh..." Well, it works & the senior sonographer took another measurement to confirm the past few that was taken. With the 6 measurements, they conclude that the thickness is 1.8mm and we are allowed to go home. Debbie causually asked if we can know the results & they confirmed that bb is safe from the risk.

Within the same week, gynae clinic called & told us that they have received the report & everything is normal. Here are the results :

Praise the lord that the results is ok & we are glad to see our bb in so much details. Really brought lotsa joy to us! :-)

Third checkup - 29th June 2007

Third visit was on a friday than the usual saturday afternoon because Daddy Airrence has went to Dubai for work assignment. Poor Debbie has to take a 1hr bus journey to SengKang to bring bb to see Dr. It was a sad day becoz Debbie has craving for Hokkien fried noodle but couldnt find any stall & ended up eating instant noodle...sigh... :-(

Well the checkup was pretty fast as bb is growing fine & just a routine check to ensure bb is ok. During the visit, Debbie complained abt the pain on her left stomach asking Dr what is the problem... Dr gave some gastric syrup & medicine for Debbie & again, it's free! Imagine if we were to see other Dr, i think will cost us a bomb!

BB pic as follow but u can't tell much difference from the previous one except that bb has grown to 4.29cm at 11 wks old.

Second checkup - 16th June 2007

Forgotton to mentioned in my previous thread that Dr gave Debbie folic acid and prenatal vit to eat daily. The greatest nightmare was the prenatal vit! It was really huge but no choice have to eat becoz of our dearest little one. ;-) BB, if u reading this one of these days, please appreciate how great is ur mummy!! hehehee.. :-p

On second visit, it was more fruitful as bb is 9 wks old and can see the shape is forming and also the heartbeat! It was so amazing to see bb has grown to 2.59cm from an egg sac of 0.93cm. Btw, u know why bb has grown so fast because Debbie has been diligently drinking enfamama milk for pregnant woman daily. Having said that, Debbie has put on tremedous weight too! Shall not talk about weight in this track... hehe... There is such increase of huge appetitie, for eg the day start off with breakfast, lunch, tea break & dinner! Debbie seems to be always hungry and good appetite. However, Debbie also puke @ one morning with water... well that is call morning sickness and thank god it only happened once! :-)

During the visit, Debbie also having kind of blocked nose & Dr has gave her some flu tablets & also the vomit pills to control if she still feel like puking... Everything FOC coz it's inside the package price loh! haa....

First checkup - 2nd June 2007

Eversince 20th May, Debbie has join a new forum call - Singapore motherhood to know about abt pregnancy & babies - http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/ & become a member of Jan '08 MTB(Mother-to-Be).

Everyday MTB will discuss abt morning sickness, gynae visits, body changes, etc... anything under the sky! It was very similar to Singapore bride forum which Debbie was once an active member there! Ha... Well, one great difference that Debbie noticed is that MTB are more free coz the number of post from MTB is really a lot that everyday it just flooded Debbie email a/c... :p Having said that, there are many good informations that can be found! For eg, which gynae to go & the prices.... Under the recommendation from the MTB in forum, Debbie decided to try out the gynae call Dr Adrain B Woodworth. He is a chinese with english name. We also have some gynae reference from friends but decided to try out this Dr as his prices is really cheap! $550 from 1st visit which can start anytime!! Where to find such a good price at this era??!?!?!? Besides that, it includes unlimited visits, ultra scan every visits, blood pressure checks, urine tests, routine blood test, antenatal vitamins, folic acid, common medicine for flu, cough, etc and post natal visit. Good deal right? However, he is located at either CCK or SK(Seng Kang).


We booked our first appointment on 2nd Jun and all we see is an egg sac. But doctor confirmed that indeed there is bb inside Debbie! :-) Look at the pictures :

Second honeymoon in Boracay(Philippines)

So how did i celebrate birthday this year? First, escape from work!! ha... managed to convince my boss that i can take 3 days of leave though i have a project on hand & just joined my new company but boss is nice enough to approve lah. Secondly, hubby agreed to bring me go holiday @ a beach resort call Boracay in philippines! Yipee!!!

We left on 3rd May morning & travelled on philippines airline to manila before departing to kalibo. On our flight there, i decided to take some pictures but found out that my favourite digital camera spoilt lah. Everything that i attempt to take are pinkish & looks yucky. I was really upset & disappointed coz i can't take nice pictures of the beach there. :-( Sigh... anyway the next day, the camera totally blackout so it is confirmed dead... *sob*... Thank God for the invention of camera mobile phone coz all our pictures are snapped using our mobile phones. ;-)

Our trip in Boracay was fun except that it was a long journey there. Upon reaching the airport, we need to take a bus ride for 1-2 hrs before reaching the jetty for another 30 mins ferry ride & finally reaching Boracay in the evening @ 6pm. It was pitch dark there as the sun rises at 5am & sets at 6pm.. Anyway, we stayed at this resort call Surfside Resort & Spa for 3 nights & tried the spa massage there too!

On 4th May(my birthday), we went snorkeling trips around the island of Boracay from 10am till 4pm. After that, we laze around at the beach chairs of our resort waiting for the sun to set. Beautiful sunset view! Evening time, hubby bought me a small birthday cake that is Ube flavor. Ube is a local name for some purple potato. Anyway it's a purple cake & taste Yummy!! :D We had buffet dinner that nite & they have oyster spread. Big oysters leh! Oh ya, not forgetting to mention that even though i was out of town, i still received many heart warming birthday greetings via sms, emails & friendster messages from frens like Chris, Yuan Shan, Hanyu, Serena, Soon Yeow, Jasmine, Mei Ying, Lucy & Trixie! :) Thanks to those who have remembered & sent me the msgs.

On 5th May, we went for the ATV(all terrain vehicle) ride to Mt Luho. It was really fun though it was a bumpy ride! This mountain is the highest of Boracay & u will be able to see 80% of Boracay. Nice view indeed!! The ATV guide also brought us to another beach call Puka Beach. After the ATV ride, we went to the one of the most expensive resort in Boracay beach call Friday, which is at Boat Station 1. Unfortunately, we can't take much pictures there becoz they are busy preparing for a wedding that nite. We took some pictures of the wedding deco & we saw another wedding nearer @ our resort. Having wedding there was really cool coz they even have fireworks for their wedding leh! It reminded me of my wedding solemnisation @ sentosa beach but i dun have fireworks leh.... :-p

As we walk back from Boat Station 1 to our resort which is Boat Station 3, there are many shops along the way that sells beach wear, bag & accessories! Of coz, how can i didn't buy anything for myself rite? Hehee...hubby & i bought 2 pairs of slippers each, beach shorts, beach dress for me & beach top for hb, bags, sun glasses, ear rings, accessories & the list goes on.... :-p
This island reminded me of phuket but it is 10 times cleaner than Phuket & comparable to Redang. The only shortfall of Redang is there is no shopping & nite life whereby u can find nite shopping & nite life @ Boracay! The crowd are here are mostly tourist from asia country such as korea, japanese, taiwanese, china. Everyone come with family or big group of frens! :)

On 6th May, we left Boracay & made our way to Manila for another round of shopping! We stayed @ Makati - similar to our orchard road/cityhall where u can do lotsa shopping!! Our hotel is those 2-3 stars kind but good location coz it's at the Greenbelt(expensive shops like Gucci, LV, Channel, etc are there). Walking further down are many other shopping malls call LandMark, Glorietta, SM Makati & many more. As our time in Makati is only 24hrs so I shopped non-stop until my leg got blisters & body aching when I am back in Singapore the next day(7th May). :-p

27th Dec (Day 1) - Flight to Darwin
We went to Terminal 3 (Budget terminal) to board the plane, departing at 8pm. The plane was really crampy & packed with aussie returning home. There are also some china people who brought their rice cooker to board the plane & wearing winter jacket?!!??!? oh mine... can't believe that cause it is HOT summer in Aus now & yet the china people were wearing winter clothes. Well, since it is a budget flight so there is no food nor drink and no seating arrangement as well. Nevertheless, this is the first time that both of us are travelling on the same flight. Our past 2 trips is either Debbie flew over to join Airrence there or Airrence flew over to meet Debbie there.

28th Dec(Day 2) - Darwin -> Katherine
We arrived at Darwin and it was 2am in the morning. We proceed to Avis counter but realised that there is a limit to the mileage, ie - 100 km per day. Thus, we decided to void our reservation and waited until 5am, Hertz was opened & we took up the car rental package as it offers us 500km per day. We did some calculation on the total journey & 11 days of car rental should be sufficient for us. Thus, we paid & drove off the car immediately. Along the way out from airport, we lost our direction & ended up in the CBD area & wasted 30km. :-p


Our first destination is Katherine which is 300 km from Darwin. Along the journey, we are very sleepy as we did not get to sleep much on the plane. Thus, we struggled our way there & thank god, we reach Katherine by 3pm. We quickly checked in to Katherine Motel(cost A$90 per night) & wash up before we continue with our adventure to Katherine Gorge & Katherine hot spring for a dip!

Katherine Gorge

We drove to Katherine Gorge(known by the aboriginal name Nitmiluk) & took the cruise ride. This cruise takes about 2 hour(cost A$43.50 per pax) & bring you around the gorge. It was amazing sight and winding 12 km with walls more than 70m high. The 13 wonderful gorges of Nitmiluk National Park began 23 million years ago as torrents of water pouring along tiny cracks in the earth. We can also see aborigines rock paintings which represent the spiritual 'dreaming' of the Jawoyn people, the traditional owners of the land.











Katherine hot spring

This was not part of our planned itinery. Our motel owners recommended us to go for this hot spring. It was crystal clear and warm, good for a dip! Oh ya, forgotton to mention that the sunset @ Katherine was nice! Dinner that night was at Red Rooster.











29th Dec(Day 3) - Katherine -> Tennant Creek
We woke up early morning and start on our long journey(estimated 500km) to Tennant Creek. Along the way, we stop-by a town call Matarankan where there are Bitter spring & Thermal Pool. Oh a heroic act that we have done was before we left Katherine, our petrol indicator was flashing red! However, we managed to ta-han until we reach Mataranka which is about 100 km away then we found a petrol kiosk. :-p *Cold sweat*

At Mataranka, we saw quite a number of aboriginals sitting on the grass like a mini gathering. They even offered to help us to picture with the giant Termite Mounds. Along the journey to Tennant Creek, you will not missed the red termite mounds all over the highway forest.

We visited the Bitter spring but didn't take a dip coz it was greeny & looks like yucky. However, thermal pool was really clean & warm. While walking into the thermal pool, we have to walk past thousands of fruit bats. They are rather harmless but sicko cause they shit on Debbie head!!! Poor Debbie. :-(

Along our way to Tennant Creek, we stop by a petrol kiosk at Dunmara & had mixed grill cost A$24.80. The portion was huge for 2 of us to share. Before 7pm, we reached Tennant Creek and checked in to motel call Safari Lodge(cost A$85). We also drove up to Anzac Hill to see the sunset. For dinner, we bought a huge pizza that cost only A$15 to share. It was yummy!!


















30th Dec(Day 4) - Tennant Creek -> Alice Spring
Another long journey(estimated 500km) to Alice spring which took us whole day to drive there. Along the way, we stop-by to take pictures at Devil marbles. We checked in to Desert Rose Inn for a night(A$65) and they have kitchen facilities thus we cooked our dinner that night.

31st Dec(Day 5) - Alice Spring -> Ayers Rock

Another long journey to Ayers Rock which is our DESTINATION of our trip. We have travelled about 2000+km by the time we reach Uluru(also known as Ayers Rock). Along the way into Ayers Rock, we checked in to CurtinSprings Wayside Inn(A$110), not cheap coz it was new year eve & it is much more costly to stay inside Ayers Rock. Anyway, it is a small cabin with ensuite facilities. So what's the highlight for that day? We saw a HUGE & BIG rock call Uluru. It changes color according to the daylight and there lotsa aboriginal stories about Uluru - a sacred site. So no one was supposed to bring any rocks there home!! We reach Uluru at sunset time & it was a grand & amazing view! Oh ya, visitors need to pay to enter Uluru - A$25 per pax

As it is new year eve, we also celebrated countdown with the Aussies who were staying at Curtin. No fireworks nor firecrackers as we are in a desert land so it was simple countdown with fake fireworks... :-p

1st Jan(Day 6) - Ayers Rock -> Alice Spring
We started the day early and went to King Canyon(brother of Grand Canyon). As the weather was 45deg celsius, we did not attempt to go for the trail walk. We just hang around the base and took some pictures before heading back to Alice Spring. Along our journey back to Alice spring, we saw car accident. Ambulance & police car was there and the car tyre was punctured and bad crash onto the side of the road. We found out later that a lady driver died from the accident. Her husband was tired after the long drive,thus she offered to take over and only travelled at 100km per hour. It was very unfortunate that the tyre punctured and she lost control of the car and died minutes after the crash. May she rest in peace.

Before reaching Alice Spring, we drove to West MacDonell and visited
Simson gap. We saw wallaby there!! That night, we went back to stay in Desert Rose Inn and we are blessed with lotsa yummy food from fellow motellers who cooked a lot and shared their food with us! They prepared potato salad & grilled sausages and it was the best dinner that we had so far! :-)

2nd Jan(Day 7) - Alice Spring -> Tennant Creek
Well, time to head back to Tennant Creek. Along the journey, we happen to pop by a mango/grape farm at Ti Tree. The mango farmers was hospitable and offered us mango to try and mango wine as well. It was sweet & we wanted to buy some but worried that we cannot bring back the mangoes thus we only bought the wine for A$20. That night, we decided to find a new place to stay & thank god for his blessings of a very comfortable, clean & big service apartment call Desert Sand Motel(cost A$85). We did our laundry there coz it was an apartment that comes with washing machine & inbuilt cooking facilities. ;-)

3rd Jan(Day 8) - Tennant Creek -> Katherine

While on the journey to Katherine, we stop by the mining centre and Mary Ann dam as well. Once again, we run out of petrol but God is good, we managed to reach Katherine to get some petrol! Well, we sort of running out of cash & we decided to stay in Palm Court hostel(A$49). It was quite run down but has cooking facilities.

4th Jan(Day 9) - Katherine -> Kakadu

We visited Edith Fall but we didn't swim coz no one swim!!! :-p It was a long journey head all the way into Kakadu national park. A place that you can't missed if you are in Darwin. Kakadu is a cultural landscape. It was shaped by the spiritual ancestors of Aboriginal people during the Creation Time. These ancestors or 'first people' journeyed across the country creating landforms, plants, animals and Bininj/Mungguy* (Aboriginal people). The name 'Kakadu' comes from an Aboriginal floodplain language called Gagudju which was one of the languages spoken in the north of the park at the beginning of the twentieth century. We also spent a night at Lakeview Park Kakadu(A$90).

5th Jan(Day 10) - Kakadu

We woke up early to go for the yellow river cruise - something that you can't missed if you are in Kakadu. It cost us A$43 per pax but worth it! We saw many wild life like birds and crocodile. Beautiful!! On our way back to Darwin, we also pop by a mango & dragon fruit farm. The farmer was very friendly & offered us to try the dragon fruit. Before we left, he gave us 1 box of dragon fruits - about 18 pieces!! Wow... we really felt very blessed! That night, we stayed at Capricornia motel (A$66) and they provide cooking facilities.

6th Jan(Day 11) - Darwin

This is the day that Debbie finally can go around shopping at the various markets & villages & shopping centre. However, the type of clothes are not her kind, thus didn't buy any clothes at all. :-( We went to Parap Village & Coolalinga and visited Litchfield. The waterfall at Litchfield was amazingly beautiful! We swam at Florence falls & people were bbqing on the water! Ha... ;-)

7th Jan(Day 12) - Darwin -> Singapore

That morning, we went to Nightcliff market, Rapid Creek market(similar to our Tekka market) & Casuarina SQ(biggest shopping mall in Darwin). Darwin markets are stalls that sells mainly food, drinks & some clothes that they imported from Asia country. Thus, nothing much to buy there. But whats interesting was the sellers are philippino, vietnamese & malaysians. The most common food there was laksa & the aussie love them! Before we head to the airport, we went to do last minute shopping at the local souvenir stall & then we proceed to Darwin yatch club to catch sunset but too late to get a nice view. Afterwhich, we went to Sky City - Casino for the dinner buffet. It cost A$25 per pax and you can find food like lamb, beef, seafood, etc... value for $$. At about 11pm, we make our way to the airport and waited till 2am then we board the plane back to Singapore! Bye!
