Food for thought...

I still remember during secondary school days that one male teacher told me this story. When his child was born, he was very touched by how great his wife has done for him to bear him a child. So he bought a bouquet of flower to visit her the next day @ hospital and asked his wife what he can give her to show his heart felt appreciation. His wife told him that all he need to do is to love their child. This teacher told the class that because of this statement, he not only love his child but he learn to love his wife even more. Very touching indeed and i think his wife is very fortunate to have a husband who appreciate her so much even after having a child in their life.

My ex-bf told me that he is someone who love his wife more than his child. My brother-in-law is one that love his child more than wife(ie my sister). My brother love his child but also know how to love my sis-in-law too. My husband got no answer to my question b4 princess is born. And until today, my observation is none of the scenario that i mentioned here applies to him. So how about you, your husband or bf? What is yours or their take on this? Child or wife or both or none?

My birthday - 4th May

Yes, i am a year old and not going to reveal my age here too! Ha... :p

This year birthday celebration is in SG. Last yr, hubby and i went to Boracay for holiday during my birthday and we bought a funny obe(yam) swiss roll cake as birthday cake cos can't find proper small cake @ the resort area. But it does taste nice & special!

On 2nd May, we went to Meiying's house for cell group and celebrated my birthday with them. To my surprise, Meiying specially bake a chocolate sour cream cake for me(see above pic)! Yum yum and the chocolate is really rich while the sour cream is a little sour to our taste. Overall it still taste fantastic! Very touched by Meiying efforts to bake a cake so it was quite memorable for me. *Thanks Meiying*

On 4th May, it's my cousin baby gal full month celebration (born in early Apr) so we went there with my mum for the buffet lunch. Since it's mummy birthday so i let her wear the new clothes that i bought in KL. When i got into the car, i saw a bouquet of roses from hubby. Hmm... same trick as Valentine day! ;) But i appreciate the kind thoughts and the flowers. Thank U dear dear. :-* After the buffet session, we went back home to feed princess. In the late afternoon, we went over to Ikea to buy some stuff cos they are having sale! We left Ikea around 8+pm and hubby treated me birthday dinner at a restaurant call Ristorante De Parma @ Serangoon Garden. While walking towards the restaurant, we passby Sweet Secrets so hubby bought me a birthday cake that i choose the flavor - Cookies Cheese cake! Sinful stuff but yum yum!! :p~

During the dinner, my princess not very cooperative cos she doesnt want to sit alone in her pram so i ended up carrying her on my lap throughout the dinner. :-( We took the set dinner with the choice of Lamb Shank and ordered pizza to share + a bottle of red wine. It's been 1 year plus since i had wine cos pregnant last year so don't dare to consume wine... The food overall is good especially the pizza (thin crust) and lamb! After our dinner, we told the staff to serve the birthday cake and the waiter, waitress + restaurant manager brought the cake over and sang birthday song for me. So nice ya! :p They also made a flower balloon as birthday gift for me. Very friendly restaurant staffs and good customer service!

After we had the cake, we were chit chatting with the restaurant manager and she told us abt her experience in this restaurant and this guy call fatpig where he is a food lover cum critic. So interesting... Then she also told us that if she knows it's birthday celebration in advnce, she can give us their famous tiramisu as birthday cake. So friends, next time birthday you know where to go ya! :p This restaurant is very children friendly too cos every sunday, they have balloon sculpting and children call draw on the majong paper(on table).

Oh ya, i also received birthday greetings from my friends. Thank U Eileen, Serena, Chris, Soon Yeow, Yuan Shan, Derrick & Jasmine for your well wishes.

On 7th May, my dad bought a birthday cake for me and intended to celebrate together with my nephews but they went home early becos of exams period. So in the end, we have a smaller crowd to sing birthday song for me. I think my princess thought it's her birthday cos have been singing birthday song and blow candles. :p

This saturday is my lunar birthday & i meeting my uni friends for lunch to celebrate my birthday. :D

Princess First trip out of Singapore

We took leave on 2nd May to bring little princess to collect her first passport! Our queue number was 3614 and 200 pple b4 our turn so it took abt 1 hour of waiting time. Then I asked the counter lady whether we need to change adelle's photo constantly and she say yes if immigration officer say need. And every time change must pay $! Not like last time can just append photo or even can share the passport with parent. Nowadays everything is $. Sigh.... Guess i can't retire early and have to continue to work harder...

After getting the passport, we decided to bring baby adelle out of Singapore for the first time on saturday - 3rd May! Where else can we go? JB loh.... ;)
We left the house around 11+ am and was caught in the heavy jam @ woodlands check-point.. Then our darling drop a bomb!! Yes she poo poo so have to change her inside the car. After cleaning her up, it's almost time for feeding too. I tried to feed her while she was seated in the car seat. Surprisingly she did drink abt 3-4 oz and then doze off when we finally get into JB after being stuck in the jam for 2+ hrs. Btw, now baby adelle know how to hug her best friend Mr Elephant and she enjoyed sleeping in her new big car seat. ;)

The last time that we drove in to JB was when i was 9mths pregnant in Nov and we seemed to have forgotton how to move around JB this time. We went round and round the highway then finally managed to get onto the right highway that brings us to Sentosa to eat the bak ku teh. After our late lunch, we went to Giant to see if we can get any good buy. Sad to say diaper there aint that super cheap now but Enfalac milk powder is cheap! However, we didn't buy lah cos worry it is sub-standard. We only buy some toilet accessories for our new house and also a set of new bedsheet and bottle for my princess. After Giant, we only have time to go carrefour. We bought pooh bear sun shade and clothes for her.

As usual we go to the coffee shop @ pelangi to eat dinner. We love the oat cereal prawn there but find the standard drop already. We ordered portion that can feed 3-4 pax and cost us RM$42. Finally we left JB at 11+ and reached Singapore around 1am.
What a tiring day..... look at adelle face and can tell that she is very stone liao...

Our New House @ Kallang - Bought MBR lights and Kitchen sink

After checking out the streets of jalan besar, balestier & geylang for a week, we finally found the brown color light that is closest to the one that we've eyed on. Since price is not cheap - $260 (the previous black one cost abt $280) then might as well get a bigger and cheaper one right?? Ha.. but the most impt is the color that we wanted. We also bought a ice-cube ceiling lights for our bedroom passage way. I love the ice cube!! :D My ID say we got a good buy price for the ice cube! hehee...

Anyway, anyone who is looking for a place to buy lights i would recommend the following place :

1. Chealsea @ Jurong East - We bought L box lights, dinning & kitchen light. Total cost abt $700+. I find the price quite reasonable though not the super cheapest.
2. Chan Huat @ Balestier - We bought their lights for normal bedroom with some simple design. Cost us $85.60 for 2 bedrooms. I find it cheap, simple & nice.
3. Extreme Lightings @ Balestier - We bought our MBR lights. Cost us $280 after bargain with the sales guy. :p
4. Ikea - We bought our toilet lights there. Like it simple and cute.

Other shops that worth going are :
1. Lightology - Reasonable price and can get about 15% discount when u ask from them.
2. Crown lighting - The owner can help you to source and check out the specific lights that u want but unfortunately the exact size and color that i want, is OOS liao so i have to settle for other alternatives which is the closest one that we saw @ Extreme.

Next, we went to Poh Joh @ Jalan Besar and bought our kitchen sink - brand is Rubine. We did consider to get either Teka and Franke too but after comparing the prices and concluded that Rubine is cheap and forum reviews have been positive too. It cost us $140 for the type of sink we wanted. If you want to buy Rubine, go to Poh Joo cos they give abt 20-25% discount! Eng Soon Huat and some other shop also sell Rubine but only 10-15% max.

End of supply wef 30th Apr

After 'working' hard like a cow for 3.5 months, i decided to stop the supply of breast milk. Some friends say very wasted cos i got good supply. But no choice cos i am very busy @ work + I have to look after my darling at nite so all these makes it tougher for me to perserve on.... :(

Anyway, now my darling is on Total Formula milk and that also means I need to work hard to earn more $ to buy milk powder! :p I find that bringing formula milk out is convenient than breast milk. But her appetite drop tremedously over the past 2 weeks and only start to pick up this week. Since formula milk need $$ to buy so i don't overdose her and feed her every 4 hours so that she can finished up the milk! :)

Now i need to source out where is the cheapest place in town to buy Enfalac liao! ;) If u got good lobang, tell me!! :D

Business trip

I have been 'grounded' for 1 year plus eversince i took up my current job. ;) Well, i do missed travelling around for business trips and eating SQ food loh! Haha... But i was pregnant last year so it's a good thing that i was grounded too.

Anyway, 2 weeks ago my boss told me that he is planning for a trip in Malaysia KL and ask if i have any issue to travel for a day trip. Hmm.. of cos no issue with me cos it's turn around flight, ma-chiam like silkair stewardess... So 4 of us(boss, myself and 2 other dept colleagues) went together and we left at 0950 hrs return at 2300 hrs.

We booked SQ tickets and it cost each pax around $400+ inclusive tax. It was MH(malaysia airline) flight to KL and return on SQ flight. For both journey, we were only given coffee, tea or juice. No more peanuts liao leh?!?! Hmm times are bad and expensive ya? ;-)

My boss told me to meet at 8am @ airport but when i reach there, he check-in already & send me sms saying he will meet me at the gate. Duh... Then one of the other dept colleagues came at 8.10am but brought an expired passport! What a joke... so he rushed back home to get his passport.

We reach KL airport at 11am and took a cab to KLCC, the place where we suppose to have a meeting there. Since we are early so we took lunch at the food court and then OTOT(own time own target) to shop around KLCC. We are given 2 hours to walk around the shopping mall so i chiong straight to Parkson and Isetan to see if can buy any nice toys or stuffs for my darling. :p

So what did i bought?? A polo tee and a Mini mouse top-skirt set for my princess. I also wanted to buy Leapfrog baby counting pal but worried that i dont have enough RM to last me for the trip so didn't buy it. But i managed to get a malaysian colleague to buy it for me instead cos she went back to KL during the may day weekend. :) It was a good buy cos parkson is selling at RM$69 + 20% discount so cost RM$55. Based on current exchange rate, it cost me ~S$24 which u can't get this price in SG leh... hehe... Oh ya, the exchange rate that i got in KL shopping mall was 2.315 and my other dept colleague told me that she only get 2.2+ from money changer in sg.

The meeting at KLCC lasted abt 2.5 hours and we decided to follow my boss to take train(aka LRT) + monorail to Bukit Bintang for some more shopping. Well, the trains system in KL are not very well connected cos the transit from LRT to monorail need to walk at least 15mins... plus weather is hot there so i regretted wearing long sleeves and jacket some more. :( Anyway, in the end, we didn't buy anything in Bukit Bintang cos it's like Far East Plaza in Singapore but we only have 30mins becos of the stupid travelling time from LRT to monorail took us 30mins already though it is a short distance from KLCC to Bukit Bintang.

Tummy time!

Guess what? I took out the lamaze spin & explore garden gym that our cell group friends bought for Princess Adelle and tried to put her tummy to lie on the beetle & spin her but not successful. She still couldn't lift up her head and saliva keep drooling. See how tired she was after 5mins of work out.... hahahaa... :p

We went over on sunday and saw the window grilles are all done up. I love the white horizontal frames and blue windows. Though simple but it gives a clean & modern look loh... :p

Online spree and purchase

Lately i am very addicted to buy things online from http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/.
First, i bought 2 Medela bottles via the overseas spree thread to replace the broken one that i borrowed from my friend. Supposed to be in the spree #2 but the seller got spare 2 bottles so she sell it to me first and cost me S$10.50 for 2 bottles(price include shipping from US). I think it's cheaper than buying in SG bah.... ;)

Then, i bought Baby leggings cos some of the babies in church are wearing that to keep their legs warm and crawling around too. So i am very tempted to buy too! Bought 2 sets from Kidz Cottage and each pair cost me $10 which is half price of those mummies from church have paid for.

Next, i bought LeapFrog Discovery Ball (see above top pic) via online spree but waiting for it to be shipping to singapore. The ball cost me S$12.17 cos baby centre having 60% which is a good buy! But need to pay shipping fees which i dont know how much yet but i read that singapore is selling about S$50+ so i guess it is still cheaper to buy via spree. :) Looking fwd to collecting the ball.

Our New House @ Kallang - Choosing Colors & Lights

On sunday, we met up with Steven to review the 3D drawings as well as selecting the materials, wall colors and he also brought us to buy lights from Chelsea, a shop in Jurong East.

Colors

Initially we wanted to use Nippon paint but after looking at the catalogue, we decided to go for ICI instead cos the range of colors from Nippon are quite limited as compared to ICI. Here are the colors that we chose :

Living & Dinning - Bright Passionate[Using Lollipop (Wash & Wear) and Fairy Light(Light & Space)]
Master bedroom - Warm Neutral [Using Culture Pearl(All-in-1) and Bisque (Supreme 3-in-1)]
Adelle room -Pinky [Using Doll House (All-In-1) and Fairy Light(Light & Space)]
Study room - Bluey [Skylight(Light & Space)]

Lights

We drove all the way from Upper Serangoon Road to Jurong East and paid $700+ for the following items :
- Dinning lights (seee above pic - 3 in 1 circle flowery black lights)
- L-box lights (forgotton to take pic but we bought the square type with white frame)
- Kitchen lights (forgotton to take pic but something like a doggy bowl in RED)

Some interesting terminology that we learnt are hamburger(a kind of round and flat light similar to hamburger) and milo gong(round and long like milo container). Nearly gotton hamburger for toilet light but we decided to buy a big round lights from Ikea instead.

We nearly bought our master bedroom light too. But becos it is black color so we hesitated and decided to try our luck around balestier, jalan besar and geylang to see if we get any other alternatives in brown/beige color to match our warm neutral theme. :)

After a week of sourcing we are comtemplating of whether to the one in black circular (see below left pic) or the one in cream fabric(see below right pic). Which one do u think is nice?? ;)
